Derek qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005, having begun his career at the age of 17. He gained experience at several leading accountancy firms before joining Lakeland Accountants in 2010. With a strong technical foundation and a pragmatic approach, Derek has advised a wide range of clients across multiple sectors.

He was appointed Finance Director of Veritas Speciality Claims upon its formation in 2025, with responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including bookkeeping, credit control, accounting and taxation. Known for his clarity and professionalism, Derek has a particular strength in presenting complex financial matters in a clear and accessible manner, ensuring transparency and confidence in the company’s financial governance.
